Dr. Kristine Shaw, DVM
Dr. Kristine Shaw is the founder of Grand Canyon Veterinary Hospital and a dedicated veterinarian serving Wellsboro, PA and the surrounding region. Her path into veterinary medicine began at a young age, when a visit to the veterinarian with a family kitten sparked a lifelong passion for animal care.
Dr. Shaw earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. During her undergraduate studies, she worked with the U.S. Geological Survey on Atlantic salmon research, gaining hands-on experience in scientific fieldwork. She went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science at The Pennsylvania State University, where she focused on population genetics of endangered species — including research involving whale sharks in Mexico.
She received her degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2013. Since returning to Pennsylvania, Dr. Shaw has provided care for a wide range of species, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets, and small farm animals.
Dr. Shaw’s approach to care reflects her commitment to patient advocacy, whole-animal medicine, and clear communication. She takes time to understand each patient fully and works closely with families to develop thoughtful, realistic treatment plans.
Outside of the hospital, she enjoys spending time outdoors in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children.
Dr. Natalie Mee, DVM
Dr. Natalie Mee is a veterinarian at Grand Canyon Veterinary Hospital and a proud member of the Wellsboro community. Originally from the area, she returned home to provide veterinary care to the region she knows and values.
Dr. Mee earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her interest in veterinary medicine began early, inspired by a childhood filled with animals and hands-on exposure to wildlife through her father’s work as a Pennsylvania Conservation Officer.
She is particularly passionate about small animal care and building strong, trusting relationships with pet owners. Her approach combines clinical expertise with a calm, compassionate presence, helping families feel supported and informed throughout their pet’s care.
Outside of work, Dr. Mee enjoys the natural beauty of Wellsboro, time with her husband and family, involvement in her local church, and caring for her four cats.
